Deborah Heifetz is a social anthropologist, mediator, and facilitator whose work on Israeli–Palestinian security cooperation (1994–2000) led her to develop the concept of “non-mediated peacekeeping.” She has participated in Track II negotiations, co-founded HiMaT, and is active in the Transition Network. This talk introduces the Human Needs Map, recently published as a “Map to Compassion” in MIT’s Journal for Awareness-Based Systems Change.
